Black Women in America--An Historical Encyclopedia
In "Black Women in America: An Historical Encyclopedia," Darlene Clark Hine (Editor) gives us, in two volumes, a compendium of the most influential black women in American history and the movements and actions they were a part of. It is a veritable Who's Who and What's What! Volume I takes us from A to L, literally from The Abolition Movement to Ethel Hedgeman Lyle, the founder of the first Greek-letter organization for Black Women-Alpha Kappa Alpha (AKA).
Volume II takes us from M to Z, from Jackie "Moms" Mabley, who's career went from minstrel shows to the Harlem Renaissance to movies to record albums to television, to the Zeta Phi Beta (ZPB) Sorority. Volume II also includes a chronology of Black Women in the U.S. from 1619 through 1992.
These are very special, large edition books which cover extraordinary women. They are x-library (with usual markings) oversized hardbacks with dustjackets in very good condition.
